SOCCER LIONS CONTINUE ROAD SWING FRIDAY AT ASU

FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team will try and end a three-game slide on Friday when the Lions face Alabama State in Montgomery at 6 p.m.

UNA is 2-5 overall after a 2-2 start and the Lions are in the third match of a four-game road swing.

Alabama State is 1-6 overall but the Lady Hornets are 1-1 at home in 2019.

The two schools have faced one common opponent in Jacksonville State. UNA defeated the Gamecocks 3-0, while Alabama State dropped a 3-2 decision to JSU.

In the last meeting in 2018, UNA defeated Alabama State 5-1 in the first athletic competition by any North Alabama team in the Division I era.

UNA senior forward Shelby Wall of Auburn, Ala., leads the Lions and is tied for the ASUN Conference lead with seven goals. She has scored at least one goal in each of UNA's last four consecutive matches.

Wall has accounted for seven of UNA's 10 goals to date.

Following the match at Alabama State, UNA will close the road trip with a Sunday (September 22) match at Jackson State at 1 p.m.

The Lions will then return home to open ASUN Conference play against Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, September 26.
