NOTES

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the sixth all-time meeting for the two programs dating back to 2005. The Lions are 5-0 in the series and have outscored the Hornets 38-3 in this series thus far. UNA's school records for most goals scored, most assists and least elapsed time between goals all came against Alabama State. The 2018 matchup was the first Division I game for UNA in any sport, where the Lions won 5-1. Last season, the game was canceled due to weather.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS: The Hornets come to Florence with an 0-4-1 record this season under first year head coach Alicia Wilson. ASU has scored in two of their five matchups this season but have allowed 17 goals in that span. The team has been shut out three times and most recently lost 6-1 to Mercer at home. This will be the Hornets third game on the road this season.

ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama soccer team blanked Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon, 3-0 in Cape Girardeau. Alice Bussey, Alana Owens and Anna Fugarino all netted a goal for the highlight day. North Alabama earned back-to-back wins last week which allows head coach Chris Walker to snag his 99th win in the process — now just one away from the 100-career win mark. The 18 shots, with nine on goal, and the three goals all are season-highs for the team. The Captain, Bussey, recorded her second goal of the week after she struck first in the 14th minute. Owens and Fugarino both earned their firsts of the season — four Lions have created the five goals in the past two games.

BUSSEY IS BACK: The Lions went back-to-back with ASUN weekly award winners on Tuesday. After Adelyn Speight a week ago, Alice Bussey claimed the ASUN Player of the Week yesterday. During the previous week, Bussey led the Lions to two wins, totaled two goals, an assist, five shots and four shots on goal. She played 110 minutes over the entirety of last week, a restful Sunday for the captain, with 40 on the field. The graduate leads the Lions in every offensive statistic during the young season. This is her third career ASUN Player of the Week award.

1, 2... SKIP A FEW... 99... 100? Head coach Chris Walker won his 99th game against Southeast Missouri in dominant fashion, 3-0. The Lions now have two straight wins. Now, all eyes turn to Thursday night against Alabama State. The 13-year leader now has the chance to win his 100th on his home turf. Walker would become the second North Alabama head coach to eclipse the 100-win mark at the helm of the soccer program. Former head coach Graham Winkworth is the all-time record holder with 111 wins during the Division II era.

NEXT GAME: After Alabama State at home, North Alabama gets a road trip to Chattanooga, Tenn. to play Chattanooga on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. After this, the Lions get a week of rest.
