FLORENCE, Ala. -- After a scoreless first half, Florida Gulf Coast scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half and went on to a 3-1 women's soccer win over North Alabama in the ASUN Conference opener for both schools.
UNA, now 4-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, got its only goal in the 58th minute on a 25-yard blast from
Shelby Wall. It was Wall's 10th goal of the season and extended her streak of having scored a goal in consecutive matches to seven.
Louise Lillback led FGCU with two goals and assist, including the first goal of the match at the 51:47 mark.
After a goal by Evdokia Popadinova at 53:38 made it 2-0, Wall answered with her goal less than four minutes later at 57:29.
Lillback added her second goal of the night in the 66th minute to make the final count 3-1.
North Alabama host NJIT in another ASUN Conference match on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
