TENNESSEE TECH RALLIES FOR 2-1 WIN OVER UNA SOCCER

FLORENCE – After tying the match with a goal in the 84th minute, Tennessee Tech  scored the game-winner in overtime to rally for a 2-1 win over the University of North Alabama soccer team Friday at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.  The loss gives the Lions a 2-3 record on the season while TTU (1-2) records its first win.
 
UNA held a 16-14 advantage in shots, including a 9-4 mark in the first half. Shelby Wall's goal off a penalty kick from 30 yards out gave the Lions a 1-0 lead at the 29:25 mark. It was the fourth goal of the season for the senior from Auburn.
 
The Golden Eagles, however, began to take control in the second half. The visitors outshot UNA 10-7 after the break and managed to tie the game with only 6:35 remaining in regulation. Bailey Taylor scored the unassisted goal off a rebound to give TTU new life.
 
After regulation ended in the 1-1 tie, the Golden Eagles continued to stay on offense. North Alabama failed to get a shot off in overtime while TTU managed two shots, the second finding the back of the net the 97:16 mark. Casidy Bereda scored off an assist from Tina Marolt for the game-winner.
 
Wall had five shots on the night, including three on goal. UNA keeper Jordyn Spreck finished with three saves.
 
UNA will play at Alabama A&M on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. in Huntsville.
