HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team lost a late lead for the second straight match as the Lions dropped a 2-1 decision at Alabama A&M.
UNA suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Tennessee Tech on Friday after holding a 1-0 lead for the majority of the match.
UNA got a first half goal from
Shelby Wall off an assist from
Kelsey Jones at the 17:23 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions held that advantage until the Bulldogs got a tying goal from Jameela Barrett in the 59th minute.
The match then remained tied until Makayla Rushing got the game-winning goal with just 2:01 showing on the clock.
UNA freshman goalkeeper
Jordyn Spreck had four saves in the match and the Lions out-shot the Bulldogs 15 to 12.
With the loss, UNA is now 2-4 overall.
The Lions play at Abilene Christian on Friday, Sept. 13 in the second stop on a four-game road stretch that will include matches at Alabama State and Jackson State.
