FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama Beach Volleyball team will open its 2021 season on Friday when the Lions host the four-team Shoals Beach Bash at the UNA beach courts at Cox Creek Park.

North Alabama will open play on Friday at 9:00 a.m. against Hendrix College and will follow with a 12:30 match against Central Arkansas and a 5:45 p.m. match against Huntingdon.

The Lions will then play Huntingdon again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Central Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Although rain is expected throughout the weekend, the matches will be played unless there are thunderstorms.

The Lions, who had their 2020 spring season cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, are led by sophomores Maya Dickson of New Plymouth, New Zealand and Paula Klemperer of Hildesheim, Germany. The UNA squad is made up of eight freshmen and four sophomores.

Due to safety protocols, fans must remain outside the fenced area and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating.
