GEORGIA STATE SHOOTS DOWN LIONS 84-70

ATLANTA, Ga., – Hina Suzuki scored 22 points, but Georgia State shot 67 percent from the floor as the Panthers picked up an 84-70 home win over the University of North Alabama women's basketball team on Monday. The loss leaves UNA with a 5-5 record on the season.
 
After trailing by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter, UNA rallied to cut the deficit to single digits. A three-point basket gave the home team a 73-52 lead with 7:13 remaining.
 
The Lions answered with a 15-3 run. Skyler Gill scored 10 points during the stretch, including a steal and basket at the 3:38 mark to make the score 76-67 and force a Georgia State timeout.
 
The Panthers responded with eight straight points and UNA did not connect from the floor again until the closing seconds.
 
Suzuki 8-for-13 from the floor and was just one point shy of her career high in points. She added five assists and four steals on the day. Jade Moore added 17 points while Gill finished with 15 points for the Lions.
 
Georgia State never trailed in the contest. UNA trailed 21-12 at the end of the first quarter and was down 39-27 at the half. The Panthers finished the game 32-of-48 from the floor and added six three-point baskets.
 
UNA will play at Pitt on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. (CST) at the Petersen Events Center on the Pitt campus.
