FLORENCE – John Fletcher and Dimario Jackson combined for 61 points as the University of North Alabama men's basketball team knocked off first-place UAH 119-103 Saturday afternoon at Flowers Hall. The win gives UNA a 10-7 overall record with a 7-4 Gulf South Conference record.

He was 8-of-16 from the floor with a trio of three-point baskets and a perfect 13-of-13 from the free throw line.

Momentum swung both directions early in the game. After UAH opened play with a 10-2 spurt, the Lions responded by tying the game at 16-16. The Chargers led 22-21 with 12:21 remaining in the first half when UNA grabbed the lead for good. Three-pointers by Fletcher, Tavaras Tolliver and Dakota Holtzclaw keyed a 13-3 run by the Lions.

North Alabama led by as many as 10 in the first half before taking a 58-54 lead into the break. Both teams continued to put up impressive offensive numbers over the final 20 minutes of play. After shooting 51.4 percent from the field in the first half, the Lions followed with a 17-of-31 showing (54.8 percent) to help increase their lead.

UAH pulled to within a single point early in the half before an 18-6 UNA run gave the home team a 13-point lead. Five different players scored for the Lions during the run, with a layup by Austin Timms giving UNA the 78-65 lead with 15:17 remaining. The lead remained double digits the rest of the way, including a largest lead of 22 with 6:32 to play.

Jackson, who finished with 29 points, had five three-pointers on the night. He added a team-high five assists. As a team, UNA was 15-of-29 from long range. Timms and Tolliver added 11 points each as nine of the team's 10 roster players scored in the game.

UNA also held a 37-30 advantage in rebounding and also had nine different players grab at least one board. Bilal Richardson's seven rebounds led the way. UAH (11-5 overall, 8-3 GSC) was led by Greg Gardner's 22 points.

After finishing the first half of the GSC season, UNA will begin the second half next weekend by hosting West Florida on Thursday and Valdosta State on Saturday. Tip-off against the Argonauts is set for 8 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
