UNA SOCCER TRAVELS TO JAX STATE AND VANDERBILT

FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team will take its perfect 4-0 record on the road for a pair of weekend matches at Jacksonville State on Friday and Vanderbilt on Sunday.

North Alabama has yet to lose as a Division I program and is one of just 10 teams across the NCAA's top classification with a 4-0-0 mark.

The Lions play at Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. on August 31 and at Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. on September 2. The Vanderbilt gme will be televised on SEC Network+ and will be North Alabama's first soccer game against an SEC opponent.

The Lions opened their 2018 season with three consecutive home wins over Alabama State (5-1), Alabama A&M (2-1) and Jackson State (7-1). UNA then went on the road for the first time and routed a Tennessee Tech squad that was picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference this season, 4-0.

North Alabama boasts the top offense in the ASUN Conference so far in 2018, averaging 4.5 goals per game, with nine different players having scored at least one goal.

UNA junior Shelby Wall of Auburn, Ala., is tied for the league lead in goals (four) and leads in assists (six) and points (14). Teammate Kylie Huey, a senior from Arlington, Tenn., is tied for the lead in goals with four and ranks second with six assists and 12 points. UNA senior midfielder Margarida Sousa of Lisbon, Portugal is fifth in the ASUN in points with six, while freshman Anna Bove' is fifth in goals (two) and junior Tay Cavett is fourth in assists.

Huey also ranks third among all active Division I players with 38 career goals and 90 career points.

Jacksonville State is 2-1-1 is 2-1-1 on the season. The Gamecocks won their first two matches of the season but have were shutout in their last two matches, falling 1-0 to Georgia Southern and settling for a tie in a 0-0 match against Georgia State.

Vanderbilt is currently 3-1 and hosts Saint Louis on Friday. The Commodores have won three straight after losing their season-opener 1-0 at Florida State.
