Men’s Tennis ranked in three ITA Polls

Lions secure two team spots; Altur among best in Southern region

FLORENCE, Ala. (June 5, 2025) – North Alabama Men's Tennis were well represented in the International Tennis Association's June 4 polls, securing three placements in two regional rankings and one mid-major ranking.

The Lions feature among the top mid-major teams in the country, ranking 21st in the ITA Mid-Major poll. UNA also is among the top five teams in the Southern region, securing a fifth spot in the regional polls.

Rising junior Alberto Altur rounds out UNA's appearances in the rankings, securing No. 17 individually in the Southern singles region polls.

The region team polls rank the top 10 programs within 13 regions across the nation. The singles and doubles rankings are compiled of the 20 best players in the Southern region.

The Lions head into summer as the lone member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in the mid-major rankings. UNA also is one of two teams from the ASUN to feature in their respective regional polls. Stetson ranked 10th in the Southeast edition of the rankings.

Ranking fifth in the Southern region, North Alabama trails only four programs in the Southeastern Conference for the top spot. Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss take the top four positions, with LSU trailing UNA at the sixth spot. Troy and Samford was seventh and eighth in the polls, respectively, with the ninth and 10th spot taken by South Alabama and New Orleans.

Additionally, Altur secures his own individual ranking at No. 17 among the top 20 players in the Southern region. He represents the lone player from the ASUN Conference in the rankings and looks to build on a 2025 season in which he won 27 matches.

The 2025 season saw the Lions win 20 matches, finishing with a Division I program record and the most single-season wins since 1988. North Alabama finished with a regular-season and tournament conference championship in the ASUN, resulting in its first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance.
