NOTES

SERIES HISTORY: This is the fourth meeting between the two programs, dating back to 2006. Only one team has secured a win in this series with two of the three games finishing in draws. Two of the games have come during the Division I era with the lone win coming in 2018, 2-0 for the Lions. The Trojans have not scored in this matchup, being shut out all three times. The Lions tied the Trojans in their last matchup in 2022. It was held at a neutral site venue in Mobile that saw two weather delays during that time period. This was the third shutout for the Lions in four games during that season. Alice Bussey led the way with two shots for that game.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS: Troy is currently on a three-game win streak after dropping their first game of the season to Murray State. In all three of their wins, the Trojans have scored three goals per game while the defense has allowed only one goal through the three contests. Jiselle Daniels leads every category except for assists for the Trojans in the young season. She has 13 shots, 10 points, nine shots on goal, five goals and two game winning goals. She set individual season highs against Alcorn for points (4) and goals (2) while shots (6) and shots on goal (4) were set against Southeastern Louisiana.

ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama soccer team and UT Martin ended in a 0-0 tie on Thursday night in Martin, Tenn. This is the first time that the Lions have posted consecutive shutouts since the 2023 ASUN postseason tournament. UT Martin recorded 12 shots with four of those on goal, all saved by goalkeeper Madison Vukas which moves her tally to 19 saves for the year.  Vukas and the Lion defense have still not allowed a goal in free play this season. The lone goal came from an ETSU corner kick in the season opener. North Alabama did not have a single tie last season and added a second draw in the first three games. The Lions put up 12 shots for the night, the most so far in the young season, which displays the offensive aggression quickly being found.

THE SPEIGHT WALL OF FLORENCE: Adelyn Speight won the ASUN Defender of the Week after helping post a shutout for North Alabama. The Skyhawks shot it 12 times, with only four getting through for on goal shots. She becomes the first ASUN Defender of the Week selection since Briana Eads in 2023. Speight led a defense that has still not given up a free play goal this season and has a 250:58 consecutive shutout minutes. She served as a part of the Lion backline that allowed just one goal through three games. The least amount for any ASUN team that has played three or more games. This is the first career ASUN weekly honor for Speight and is crowned the first for the program in nearly two years to the date.

VUKAS GOES NATIONAL: Graduate goalkeeper Madison Vukas has started the season ablaze. So much so, that she has cemented herself in the national rankings. She is now 11th in the country in shutouts (2), 25th in Save Percentage (.950), 26th in Total Saves (19), 31st in SPG (6.33) and 33rd in GAA (.333). She has helped the Lions to back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2023.

NEXT GAME: Following the second home game against Troy, the Lions get on the road to head to Cape Girardau, Mo. at Houck Field on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. to play Southeast Missouri. This will be the fifth and final game of August.
