Women’s Tennis earns ITA Southern Region Community Service Award

UNA ranks among the top women’s tennis programs in community engagement

TEMPE, Ariz. (June 11, 2025) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2025 ITA Division I Women's Regional Award winners this week, as UNA's women's tennis program was honored as the Southern Region Community Service Award Winner.

The women's tennis team reported 292 hours of community service for the 2024-25 academic year.

"Our success on the court this season has been in part because of the amazing community we have in the Shoals," said UNA head coach Olaya Garrido-Rivas. "This award is our way to say 'thank you' to them. We are so grateful we get to give back and spread our love and support around and can't wait to keep doing it next year. Roar Lions!"

This adds another recognition to the community pillar for the Lions, as the team ranked second among all women's tennis programs in Division I for community service, according to Helper Helper. The Lions have ranked in the top three each of the last two seasons for women's tennis community service hours.
