FLORENCE, Ala. (July 23, 2025) –University of North Alabama head women's golf coach Neil Self announced the program's schedule and roster for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday, including 10 tournaments and seven student-athletes.
The Lions enter their eighth season as a women's golf program in 2025. The program began in 2018 during the school's transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Self has been at the helm for all eight seasons.
The season begins with four fall tournaments, kicked off by the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas on August 24-25. The Lions will also play six tournaments in the spring, ending with the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on April 17-19 in Dothan, Ala.
The Lions welcome back redshirt junior
Kerigan Klauber, rising junior
Gracee Prince and upcoming sophomores
Sirichaya Chanpen and
Olivia Whittle. Klauber recorded her first career top 10 finish last season and led all players last fall with a 75.1 stroke average. Chanpen recorded a 76.1 average in the fall and led all returners with a 78.0 average last spring.
The three newcomers are junior transfer
Ava Schwartz and true freshmen
Lisa Palmgren and
Kiersten Riggins. Schwartz spent the last two seasons at UAB and is originally from Temple, Texas. Palmgren joins the program from Gothenburg, Sweden, while Riggins comes from nearby Trussville, Ala.
"We are ready to start," said Self. "I'm excited for Ava, Lisa and Kiersten to join us and add to our solid group of returners. I know the girls have all worked hard this summer to come in here ready to help build this program stronger. We're really looking forward to every tournament. We'll see four brand new venues for us and will be challenged by good fields at every event."
Following the season opener in Kansas, the Lions will head back to the Midwest in September for the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by SEC opponent Missouri. UNA will close the fall with two familiar tournaments in October, including the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Arkansas State and The Judson at Southern Miss.
The spring begins earlier than usual with a February trip to Florida, as the Lions will compete at the Babs Steffens Invitational hosted by ASUN rival Stetson. After that, UNA will head to the Huntsville.org Invitational set for March 2-3 at RTJ Hampton Cove. Last season, the Lions finished second place in this tournament just six strokes back of Troy for the gold.
UNA will play three more events in March, including the Magnolia Collegiate hosted by South Alabama in Mobile. The Lions will also travel back to Nashville for the Nashville Invitational and Macon, Ga. for the Brickyard Intercollegiate.
The 2026 ASUN Championship is set for April 17-19 and will be hosted at Dothan Country Club in Dothan, Ala.
