FLORENCE, Ala. (February 3, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team will host its first home dual of the season Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the UNA Tennis Complex, taking on the UAB Blazers in Florence.

After 297 days away from the UNA Tennis Courts, women's tennis returns to their home courts in preparation for their fourth outing of the season. The Lions are set for their third dual in four days following road wins at Troy and Alabama State. North Alabama looks for its second all-time win over the Blazers.

First serve from the UNA Tennis Courts is set for 1 p.m. Live stats will be provided for the dual closer to match time.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama had a perfect weekend on the road in action versus in-state rivals Troy and Alabama State. The Lions first faced the Trojans on Feb. 1, starting the weekend with a 5-2 win over Troy. North Alabama then built on the victory with a sweep of Alabama State, earning the second UNA win of the season. The Lions took both doubles points against the Trojans and Hornets, with North Alabama securing the win against Troy with four-straight singles wins. UNA also earned its sixth-straight win over Alabama State – all coming in the Division I era.

SCOUTING UAB: The Blazers enter the dual 2-2 on the season, looking to avenge a 4-1 loss to Mississippi State last time out. UAB looks to build on the solid season from Spring 2024, when the Blazers finished 13-11 with a second-round appearance in the American Athletic Conference tournament. UAB also looks to add its second win against in-state programs after taking a 6-1 victory over Alabama State last season. UAB is coached by Mark Tjia in his 12th season.

SERIES HISTORY: The Lions and Blazers meet for the 16th time. UNA looks to capture its first win over UAB in the Division I era and the second overall. UNA last defeated UAB in the 1991 season with a 5-4 victory.

FALL 2024 RECAP: North Alabama Women's Tennis capped the 2024 fall season with 70 wins, using the experience to prep for the championship season. For the opening Belmont/Lipscomb Invitational in September, UNA took home 18 wins in Nashville, Tenn. The ITA Regionals and MTSU Hidden Duals followed in October, securing 13 wins at the ITA tournament and team-high 22 wins in Tennessee. The Chattanooga Invitational concluded the fall season in November, taking 17 wins in the fall finale.
