Alan Pate, a native of Cordova, Ala., was a four-year letterman in baseball from 1993-96 and also played one season of football in 1991. On the baseball field he was a .363 career hitter and set school records for most games played in (187), career home runs (34), career runs batted in (186) and career total bases (349). He also set school and Gulf South Conference records with 55 doubles. He had 186 hits in 512 career at bats. 

In 1995 Pate hit .354 with 21 doubles,15 home runs and 72 runs batted in. He was first-team All-GSC, first-team NCAA Division II South Central Region, a South Central Regional All-Tournament selection and a second-team All-American pick. He tied a school record with three homers in a game against West Florida.

As a senior in 1996 he hit. 412 with 12 doubles, three triples, 10 homers and 55 RBI. He was again chosen All-GSC, All-South Central Region and second-team All-American. He lettered in football as a freshman in 1991 when he saw playing time at quarterback for the Lions.

He received a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Biology from UNA 1997 and is employed as a Senior Environmental Scientist and Project Manager by Tetra Tech in Jacksonville, Fla., where he resides with his wife Stacey and daughter Gavin Alexis.
