A four-year letterman in golf for the Lions from 1967-70, Jud Stockard led UNA to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in Fort Worth, Tex., in 1969. The Lions finished with a 17-1 record that season and the team's had a 64-11-2 match record over Stockard's four years, going 50-6 from 1967-69 and 14-5 in 1970. As a freshman in 1967 he had a 73.7 average for the season and the Lions were again second in the Alabama Collegiate Conference Tournament, while finishing third in the NAIA District.

As a junior in 1969 he averaged 73.67 to help lead the Lions to the ACC and NAIA District 27 championships. He averaged 73.63 as a senior as the Lions finished second in the ACC. In 1979 he won the Alabama State Amateur Championship at the Sasqahatchee Country Club at Opelika-Auburn. He later played on the professional mini-tour in Arizona in 1981 and has won numerous local and regional golf championships. He is the only Lion golfer to have won a state amateur championship. Received his B.S. degree in Marketing from UNA in 1970.

At the time of his induction he served as golf professional at Twin Pines Country Club.
