Kenyatta Jones was a standout on UNA football teams in 1993 and 1994 and is one of just 11 UNA runners all-time to have rushed for 2,000 yards in their careers. He gained 2,007 yards in just two seasons on 285 carries and scored 20 touchdowns. His 7.0 yard per carry average is the best career mark in Gulf South Conference history.
His 1,115 yards in 1994 led the team and is the fourth highest single-season total in school history. He played for teams with a combined 27-1 record, and was on two Gulf South Conference Championship and two NCAA Division II National Championship teams. He had 10 career 100-yard rushing games - the fourth most ever by any UNA player. His top game was 161 yards on 16 carries against Fort Valley State in 1994. He had a 90-yard touchdown run in the 1994 Division II Championship Game against Texas A&M-Kingsville. He earned one GSC Player of the Week honor against West Georgia in 1994.Â
He received a B.S. degree in Marketing from UNA in 1996. In addition to his job as a pharmaceutical representative for Takeda, he has also served as a volunteer assistant football coach at Colbert County High School for the last seven years. He resides in Tuscumbia with his wife Felicia, son Kenan and daughter Mikayla.Â
