Ricky Lindsey, a two-sport standout during his career with the Lions, rolled up 1,611 receiving yards for the Lion football teams from 1966-68. He was named to the 50th Anniversary UNA Football Team for 1949-98. He made 149 career catches and scored 12 touchdowns during his career and once caught 10 passes in a single game. He had 667 yards receiving in  1968 with 50 catches and six touchdowns and was chosen Little All-American. His 52 catches in 1966 set a single-season record and his 50 catches in 1968 ranked second. He also established the school career record for passes caught.

Lindsey teamed with quarterbacks Don Cornelius and Phil Logan to form two of the top passing combinations in school history. He was selected to the Times Daily's First Forty Years Lion Football Team," in 1988 and was selected to the All-Decade team for 1959-68. A native of Sheffield, Ala., Lindsey signed with the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League.

He also played baseball for the Lions from 1967-69 and, following a tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, he served as the Lions baseball coach in 1973 and 1974. He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from Florence State (UNA) in 1969 and then received a Master's in Administration and Supervision from UNA in 1975.
